Having studied piano and singing at Trinity College of Music, Sammy went on to write music for dance and theatre. This led to composing music for nature films, including three National Geographic Specials with wildlife filmmakers David and Carol Hughes. The music for one of these "Rainforest" won the I.F.P.A award for musical enhancement of visuals and was nominated for an Emmy.
For many years now she has followed a passion for singing and the effect that it can bring to peoples lives, leading the Luminos choir at Lighthouse in Poole. As a freelance workshop leader she has worked with many organisations, including Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras education department, taking singing and songwritring projects into the community....from prisons to hospitals...teenagers to people in their nineties... still constantly amazed at the transformation that music brings.
Commissions include many choral pieces, one of The Calling, was performed by Somerset Massed Choir at the Royal Albert Hall Schools Prom 2008. She has recently written the music for the highly acclaimed wildlife photographer Ben Osborne's "Jurassic Journey" - a show that he is touring nationwide during 2011. The CD of the music is available on this website!
Over the years she has performed as a singer and piano player and has recently written and recorded vocal arrangements for P J Harvey's album "Let England Shake".
